Sensing and imaging colorful (spectral) world with colloidal Quantum Dot

We propose a Ph.D project to research and develop a Color (Spectral) Filter Array, C(S)FA, based on side-by-side Colloidal Quantum Dot (cQD) scheme. Specific cQD photodetectors (PDs) of their characteristic absorption wavelengths can be located on the corresponding pixels in the C(S)FA, and cQDPD image sensors with color or spectral imaging capabilities can be fabricated. The challenges to do this is coating quality needed to reliably produce an imaging layer and not degrade through subsequent process steps, forming a robust component of the device not degrading over time on the shelf and in use with affordable end product price. The research to identify, develop, and apply materials and methods for fabrication is many facetted and it requires focus on each one of these facets. Applicants with synthetic chemistry, photochemistry, material science, device physics, and electrical engineering are welcomed to join our existing experts to successfully attain our goals.
