R&D Metrology Engineer  

About the Role 

As an R&D Metrology Engineer, you will play a key role in developing advanced metrology solutions to tackle scaling roadmap challenges in semiconductor manufacturing. You will be part of the advanced metrology and inspection group within the angstrom patterning department, working at the forefront of innovation to enable next-generation technologies. 

What you will do

  • Work in a metrology team, being the point of contact for focus metrology for advanced patterning applications.
  • Actively contribute to the definition and execution of research and joint development programs within the Center for Advanced Patterning (CAP).
  • Work in very close collaboration with a tool supplier, supporting them in the development of their metrology products targeted to control lithography tools and processes. 
  • Assess supplier needs and translate them into experiments that will be executed in imec cleanroom. 
  • Create integration flows, start and follow up on wafer creation.
  • Perform lithography and metrology steps yourself on imec tools. 
  • Analyse, interpret results and define the next steps of development. 
  • Train imec personnel on focus metrology tool. 
  • Own focus target design creation and placement on imec mask sets. 
  • Report results internally and externally (weekly customer meeting, quarterly technical review meetings).

Who you are

  • You hold a master in Applied Sciences, Materials Engineering or Electronics.
  • You have interest and preferably experience in metrology and/or lithography within a high-tech cleanroom environment. 
  • You are proactive, positive, and hands-on, with a strong willingness to learn. 
  • You excel at working in complex environments involving multiple partners and customers. 
  • You demonstrate flexibility and resilience when facing change or ambiguity. 
  • You are detail-oriented and work with high accuracy. 
  • You possess excellent communication skills in English. 
  • You are confident in delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
