What you will do

Supported by the Spanish central and regional governments, imec will drive innovation in a 300 mm semiconductor R&D pilot line in Malaga Tech Park.  We will be growing local expert teams in semiconductor process technologies developing chips for unmet needs in healthcare, AR/VR and industrial applications.  Through collaborations with academic groups and industry partners at international and local scale, we aim to transform disruptive ideas into semiconductor technology platforms to be leveraged by industry partners to advance and accelerate their product development and ignite new deep-tech ventures. We aim to support local start-ups in their growth trajectory by establishing our local iStart incubator. Through our collaborations with local academia, we will unlock disruptive innovation while actively contributing to growing the supply of trained semiconductor professionals for the increasing workforce demand from industry.    

We're on the hunt for a R&D Pilot Line manager to lead imec’s 300 mm Fab in Spain. 

  • As a passionate and inspiring leader, you will build a strong team to run the imec Spain Fab and ensure it meets its key objectives (Safety, Quality, Cost, Volume and Learning Speed). 
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of R&D Pilot Line professionals (Operations, Process and Hardware engineering). 
  • Provides timely, honest, and specific feedback and helps employees grow and succeed 
  • Listens, supports, engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results 
  • Collaborate with the R&D teams, business lines and expertise centres as well with the Fab in Imec Leuven to ensure the timely delivery of R&D experiments and Proof of concept wafers, meet or exceed customer expectations 
  • Implement systems and business processes to improve efficiency and productivity in the R&D Pilot Line. 
  • Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value, eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvements. 
  • Monitor and maintain quality control standards in the R&D Pilot Line 
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental policies 
  • Review and analyze processing schedules to ensure optimal utilization of resources 
  • You are a true team player working with your peers in the senior leadership team of the imec Fab expertise center and with the imec executive team (Facilities, Finance, Procurement/Warehouse/Supply Chain, HR&EHS) to ensure strategic objectives are set, plans and resources to execute are in place  
  • You foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement that inspires the imec Spain R&D Pilot Line team 
  • You will report to the Fab Manager in imec headquarters, Leuven, Belgium

Who you are

  • PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering with background in semiconductor process technologies 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience in semiconductor manufacturing or semiconductor manufacturing engineering. 
  • Proven track record of Safety&quality assurance and improvement initiatives 
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively within a matrix organization 
  • Stellar communication and leadership abilities 
  • Integrity is one of your core values 
  • Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish
