Within the imec ISSA expertise center, we build application-oriented prototypes around unique imec chip-level technology. Together with the component experts, we innovate at the system level to bring these imec technologies to the next level and to bridge the gap between research and industry. We define the next generation of architectural system blueprints for hardware and software. Our mission is to demonstrate and validate these systems in relevant (real life) application environments. .

What you will do

Manage scope, budget and time of complex multidisciplinary projects, ensure technical alignment, and strengthen imec’s role in external collaborations. The first period a domain priority will be put on projects in Autonomous Transport Systems. 

Core activities:

  • Manage project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet research goals. 
  • Align and communicate effectively with both internal teams (i.e. data & compute researcher/engineers) and external stakeholders (active in complex distributed systems) and drive progress towards objectives & milestones 
  • Contribute to processes development with PMO & RMO 
  • Foster a collaborative environment. 
  • Thrive in the context of software and hardware research, particularly around agentic systems, distributed data infrastructure and AI workload definitions.

Who you are

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Sciences, Business Engineering or equivalent 
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex multidisciplinary technical  projects, 5+ years of experience, clear understanding of leading technical concepts in distributed compute, software and AI research 
  • Experience in R&D or innovation-heavy environments 
  • Process driven and problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to lead through influence rather than authority, guiding teams in a matrixed environment. 
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, Prince2, Agile) is a strong plus, not a requirement. 
  • Willingness to work regularly at the Imec facilities in Leuven/Antwerp/Ghent is required, occasional travel abroad. 
  • Fluent in English is a must, Dutch is a strong plus
