As a start-up, transferring your idea from the drawing table to a silicon die can seem a gap that’s too wide to jump. Luckily, imec can help you to bridge it by mobilizing its network and expertise.
Hailo was founded in 2017. The company develops a new generation of AI processors that can handle tasks at high speed, low power, and low cost.
Today, Hailo is in production with the Hailo-8 AI Processor. It’s working with partners such as Foxconn, NXP, Kontron, and others on solutions for multiple market segments, including automotive, smart city, industrial, retail and more. The company is valued at over 1 billion dollars.
One of its initial challenges was to find a design and manufacturing partner that could fill in the gaps in their knowledge of silicon development – especially in advanced processing nodes. Hailo found that partner in imec.IC-link, imec’s ASIC development division.
