PIC Test and Lab Operation Engineer

Ensuring Precision and Efficiency in Photonic Testing and Lab Management

What you will do

As a PIC Test and Lab Operation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the testing and validation of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) and the development and testing of proof-of-concept systems. You will be responsible for performing electrical and optical testing using advanced manual and automated test setups. Your main tasks will include:

  • Testing and Validation of PICs: Perform comprehensive testing on photonic integrated circuits and devices with expertise in fiber optics and free-space optics. Develop automated test scripts to ensure efficient, repeatable testing while maintaining clean coding practices.
  • Proof-of-Concept Systems: Support R&D teams in developing and testing proof-of-concept systems
  • Data Management and Reporting: Systematically obtain, manage, analyse, and report data. This includes writing test reports, and helping with IPs, journal articles, conference posters, and presentations.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and debug errors in measurements and test setups to ensure accurate results.
  • Lab Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the photonics lab, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and equipment readiness. Manage inventory of consumables, equipment, and components to maintain uninterrupted lab functionality. Proactively plan and procure supplies well ahead of time, working closely with suppliers and vendors to source and maintain specialized testing equipment.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with R&D teams to define testing protocols, troubleshoot devices, and optimize PIC designs from a measurement perspective. Provide technical support and training to colleagues on lab equipment usage and best practices.
