The beginning of 2017 marks the start of The Therapy Lens project supported by EIT Health Innovations. In the Therapy Lens project imec researchers join forces with researchers from the Technical University of Munich, RWTH Aachen University and specialists from MADoPA and CapDigital.
This one year project provides an exciting challenge for all member institutions and organizations. The aim of the project is to utilize the Microsoft HoloLens device in physical rehabilitation.
The software application - running on the HoloLens - will encourage and guide the patient in completing the task of tea making. The tea making scenario is a typical exercise for patients suffering from neurological diseases, such as dementia or Alzheimer.
Each member brings his/hers unique skills and experience to the project, but all have the same goal – to create a software application for supporting patients in activities of daily living, using augmented reality and to enable the healthcare professionals to monitor patients remotely.
The role of imec, in the context of the Therapy Lens project, is to design and execute a validation study of data obtained from HoloLens. Imec will also collaborate with RWTH on software application development. Utilizing the knowledge and experience from previous projects, imec will work on the clinician dashboard, which will visualize therapy related data obtained from HoloLens in an attractive and easily understandable way.
